Recycling Old Personal Computers: Exactly Why Do We Do It?
All of us have several electronic devices in our home, and many of us have 2 to 3 personal computers or if we have a large family maybe four if not more. Most people typically shop for brand new ones every three to five years. So , just how can we go green and
recycle our outdated computers? Do we merely toss old computers in the junk and expect to have the sanitation department to recycle them?
Well, I wouldn't depend on the waste companies to recycle our old computers. The initial place to get started is as simple as making a phone call to the city in which you reside. I am aware that in my residence of Roswell, Ga. all we have to do is drive to the recycling center and discover an appropriate location to discard the old computer to be recycled. I know in Atlanta you may drop off computers for recycling at Grady High School every 3rd Saturday. In each of those instances you must have a valid Identification for those cities for instance a driver license.
Furthermore , i went along to the EPA govt website and found that one place on cyberspace you are able to visit is www.earth911.com. You only put in the word computer plus your zip code and up pop a list of recycling centers in your area. I found that Staples is in the shopping center near by compared with the city recycling centre being a fairly short distance but will for 10 dollars take the computers, monitors and printers.
Why do we recycle old computers? Well most computers have components which might be labeled as hazardous waste, if we simply get rid of these in the trash dumps there exists a potential to cause harm to environmental surroundings by which we are living. At the same time by reclaiming materials from the computers they can have other helpful purposes, which might help to relieve the load on resources.
One time when I must have been a kid I observed a stream full of old cars and thought how hideous why do folks do this? The pure beauty of mother nature is elevated if we recycle. So go green with all your old computers and keep America beautiful.
