Finding A Part Time Job For A Teenager
Many teenagers find a part time job because their parents know somebody at the local supermarket and happen to know that they are looking for help. Others simply strike out by themselves and read the help wanted advertisements in their local newspapers or look for help wanted signs in storefront windows. Regardless, of how a teenager goes about it, it can be difficult for them to find a part time job. The reason for this is that they can only work after school or on weekends during the school year.
However, networking is one of the best ways for a teenager to find a part time job. They should inform everybody they know that they are looking for a part time job. They should apply in person for any kind of part time job. This is especially true for seasonal or resort part time employment. They should also ask the proprietors of retail stores that don't have a help wanted sign in the store window if they need any part time help. The best way to find a part time job for a teenager is to apply in person.
Students need to visit their Student Employment offices, College Career Employment offices, or High School Guidance office to obtain listings of local opportunities for part time jobs.
Teenagers can also search on the Internet for websites that have listings for part time jobs. For keywords they should search on part time or part time jobs. They can also search for the category of the part time job that they are interested in. They should also search the state employment website for a part time job. In addition, many newspapers have a section that is separate for part time job listings.
It is somewhat different to apply for a part time hob than it is to apply for a full time job. When applying for a part time job, the teenager dress that is casual business or at least something that is neat and clean. The teenager shouldn't wear anything that shoes their belly, tank tops, any kind of low cut top, or jeans.
They should ensure that their fingernails and hair are well groomed. They shouldn't wear colors or hairstyles that are extreme. They should remove any piercings that they might have and not wear sneakers, flip flops, platform or spike heels. They need to dress moderately.
When filling out an application the teenager will need the hours/days they are available to work, a resume, references, dates of employment, name and addresses of previously employers, and the schools they attended and the dates they attended. They should be prepared for an immediate interview.
