Understanding the Legal Reasons for Getting a Divorce
This is by no means a new idea as 'the arrangement" as it used to be known was very popular with older couples who no longer shared a marital bed but continued to stay together for reasons such as religion, status, finances and familiarity. As many of them had been together for 30 years or so and watched their children grow up they were happy to share a home and friendship with each other.
Today couples of all ages are throwing caution to the wind and keeping the family unit together until such a time as they can afford to make the break without any hardship. If you think about it this new concept has a lot of common sense attached to it? Unlike that of a classic divorce where two people become modern-day gladiators and fight it out in the arena of life often using their kids as weapons to score points and enact revenge. It is generally a fight to the end where there is no clear winner just a lot of psychological bumps and bruises and a couple of battered egos.
That old saying "when you can't decide what to do then do nothing" definitely applies in the case of divorcing couples living together. The option of one person leaving and having to find the cash for a new residence as well as being accountable for spousal and child support could easily be financial suicide in these rocky economic times. The world is unstable with recent earthquakes in Japan and New Zealand and a recession that won't seem to quit so no one could blame a separating couple with 2 kids to STAY PUT! By living under the same roof they can take their time to sell their home if that is their wish, continue to share in raising their children and slowly work out an amicable divorce settlement. Divorce lawyers have reported that couples who are separated and still living together are generally much easier to deal with than those that have parted in the conventional way.
Like any relationship (intimate or not) there will be trials and tribulations and it will come down to how well an ex husband and wife can communicate with each other. It could even be a time of reflection as each partner has time out from a troubled marriage to consider his or her options. They could while sleeping in separate rooms discuss their issues with a marriage counselor or just agree that at some point there will be a divorce.

The perpetrator uses a cycle of violence to control you and control your actions. It manifests itself in three phases - a tension building phase, and acute explosion, and a honeymoon period.
To the perpetrator, the prospect of being divorced is the ultimate loss of control.
