Past Lives Reincarnation Regression; Why Remembering Is So Important?
The theory of past life regression is bases on the hindu philosophy of karma(deeds) and Athma(Soul).
According to the hindu's scriptures the soul is defined as that part which is indestructible and changes its form or body as humans changes their clothes after they have outlived their useful years of life.
Christianity has a very different viewpoint of reincarnation, focusing on Christ's resurrection instead.
For the Hindus, reincarnation can happen for the soul such that the soul takes the form of a woman, man or animal, and the karma or the deeds in the present life will shape what kind of life someone will have in his or her next life.
There are several Hindu scriptures that talk about past life reincarnations. Most notably is the Bhrigu Sanhita, a scripture that supposedly held an accounting of all future and past births for current souls living. Unfortunately, this scripture no longer exists, and has been lost to time.
As far as modern-day accounts of reincarnation or rebirth, Dr. Ian Stevenson has collected some fascinating data. Today, science frowns on the concept of reincarnation as an actual reality, so no one can state with certainty that this is the most respected scientific source to be had on reincarnation as a theory. It is, however, the most well documented and famous, because Dr. Stevenson had a degree in medicine and was a psychiatrist.
Unlike the current breed of past life regression therapists; Dr, Stevenson did not use any type of induced trance or hypnosis on his subjects; rather his collection of data is entirely and strictly based on children who had a spontaneous recollection of the incidents in their past life.
Among his most well noted and perplexing cases was that of a young boy of 6 years from a tiny village in Punjab who claimed to have been a man named Satnam Singh.
He said he was from the village of Chakkchela, in a past life. He had never been to the man's village, but said the man had lived there and could also recall details from there with amazing clarity.
Despite the family's efforts, the boy continued to claim that his name was Satnam and even went so far as to reveal the name of Satnam's father. He said that he had been killed in a motor cycle accident when he was on his way home from school.
His story was investigated, and it was absolutely found that someone named Satnam Singh had indeed lost his life in a motorcycle accident when he'd been on his way home from school. The little boy also revealed very personal details of Satnam Singh's, all of which were accurate. Even more astonishing, the man's handwriting was compared to that of the little boy's, and both were found to be absolutely the same.
Stephenson's collection also includes another popular account of past lives reincarnation, from a young girl named Swarnalata. This little girl was just three years old and vividly remembered her past life as a young woman she called Biya Pathak.
The child could describe in perfect detail the house she had lived in as the young woman, and even took her father there when they were out and about one day. The child not only said that she had lived there, but that they could get a better cup of tea in the house than they could on the road.
The major turning point was when she called out Biya's brother by his pet name out of a crowd of 9 people.
These are not the only two, and Stevenson lists dozens of these types of cases in his papers. He also found that if an injury is caused by trauma in the last life, it can become a birthmark for the next one.
As one example, a man from Thailand recalled that he was the reincarnation of his deceased maternal uncle. This man had a scar in the exact location where his uncle had suffered a fatal knife wound, to his head.
Another instance is that of a boy claiming himself as a man called Maharam, who was killed from gunshots to his chest. Investigations revealed that the boy had similar to gunshot birthmarks on his chest which corresponded to that of his claim.
Even though there has been a huge amount of documented cases it is not enough for the scientific community at large to accept. There are a few noble exceptions however such as Dr Brian Weiss who is considered to be the father of past life regression.
It's also worth noting here, however, that when people do undergo past life regression therapy, they often suddenly dispense with lifelong fears and phobias.
